The food groups
Carbohydrates give energy (rice, bread, pasta). Proteins build muscle (eggs, beans, meat). Fats store energy (nuts, oils). Vitamins and minerals keep your body running (fruits, vegetables). Water keeps everything moving.
Why balance matters
Eating too much of one thing or too little of another can make you tired, sick, or unable to grow well.
Fibre
Fibre (from veg, fruit and whole grains) helps your digestive system move food through smoothly.
